Trafford Golf Centre revamp complete

Russells Construction has completed a £450,000 refurbishment at Trafford Golf Centre in Trafford City. The scheme involved construction of a new café and manager’s office, refurbishment and extension of the golf driving range, and a revamped entrance.

Russells was appointed to the project by Peel Land and Property, which owns and operates the 57-bay facility. The project saw Russells construct and fit out a new extension at the entrance, and refresh the interior. The centre remained open during the works, ensuring visitors had uninterrupted access to the golf driving range and leisure facilities.

Director Andrew Russell said: “The main challenge was to ensure the centre could stay open and continue to provide the service for customers, and to minimise disruption for them and the staff. The team developed an excellent working relationship with the client and held regular coordination meetings with the centre’s management to make the whole process as smooth as possible.

“We’re really pleased with the finished project, it looks great and the upgraded driving range facilities are fantastic.”

Formerly known as PlayGolf, Trafford Golf Centre is just one of the attractions which makes up TRAFFORDCITY, alongside Chill Factore, David Lloyd, DW Sports, Intu Trafford Centre, Event City, three hotels, the Venus office block and a number of other retail outlets.

Mark Whittaker, group property director for Peel, added: “Trafford Golf is an extremely popular attraction and a key part of the leisure offering at Trafford City. To maintain its position as one of the leading golf centres in the UK we continue to invest and modernise both the physical space and the facilities for customers and staff.

“We have worked with Russells Construction on a number of occasions, most recently the delivery of a new Asda store in Kent, and were pleased to appoint the team to implement this plan. The project was delivered as anticipated, with the contractor doing a great job of helping our team to keep the business operational and the customers well served throughout.”

Russells’ previous projects for Peel Developments include a £6.5m contract to deliver a 73,000 sq ft Asda store in Chatham, Kent, and the Eastbank residential development, a regeneration scheme delivering 110 apartments and duplex just off Great Ancoats Street in Manchester.

With a portfolio of clients spanning the commercial, industrial, retail, leisure and residential sectors, Russells has the experience and expertise to deliver schemes on time and on budget.
