The Federation, the first Russells refurbishment for Co-op as part of the NOMA project, has been shortlisted for an Inspired Places award.
Designed to recognise the best of the region’s interior work spaces, the winner will be chosen as a result of a public vote launched today and closing on October 31.
Judges have created a shortlist of 32 innovative and interesting offices within the North’s creative and digital sector, all of which are profiled on the Prolific North website. Check out the video walk through and you’ll even catch a glimpse of the Russells banner on the scaffolding next door at Hanover, the team’s second project in the NOMA regeneration.
The Federation is home to Coop Digital, a co-working hub for small businesses offering desks, meeting rooms and events space, alongside the opportunity to meet and work with like minded businesses.
Russells Construction undertook the full refurbishment of the 70,000 sq ft building in 2016 / 2017, stripping back the interior to create a clean, bright interior complete with original windows, brick and stonework, and a stunning internal glazed light well.
The interior design scheme includes a selection of informal group or solo work spaces, and encourages gatherings around the comfy sofas and picnic benches. Swinging hammock chairs provide alone time, while greenhouse-style pods allow for more private work and meetings. The space is enhanced by Manchester-inspired artworks such as the infamous worker bees and the first line of Tony Walsh’s poem This is the Place.
